    Freeware for Text Editing?

Not sure if that's what to ask for or not...

A co-worker asked me if there is some sort of utility that would change all caps to regular text. I can't think of a better way to phrase that to google it...
Any suggestions? He would be using this for Microsoft Office use - Word & Excel more than anything.

    Thanks in advance

How is the text input into the computer? Is it already in Word text document? Because Word has this capability built in.

He said mostly in Word, and we didn't know that it was already built into Word.

He would also like something for our Quotes Program that would change the text from all caps to regular text. Not sure what the name of that program is...might be something that was made by an employee.

Thank you for your fast reply and help.

    Quotes Program
You mean as a program that does your quotes for jobs? Would that be either Quickbooks or Acrobat or something else?

And I might have been wrong about the change being provided in Word. I just checked in my Word 2003 version and couldn't find what I used to have in Word97. Maybe I didn't look deep enough. Will check further and get back to you on this.

I found this once you tipped me off about Word having it: http://wordprocessing.about.com/od/w...changecase.htm
Been too busy to try it out yet for him...but I sent him the link.

No, the Quotes Database we use is something that an employee made I believe...not 100% sure. We use Word 97 here.

Thank you so much for the help

In Word it's highlight text, shift key and F3 key.

For the record, a good text utility that does various cases is Metapad. It can replace Notepad but I just run it as a separate application.

Thank you for all the help. Haven't tried Metapad yet, either, but he might like that. We haven't had a chance to try anything in the Quotes Database, but everything works great in Word.

    Thanks again

    HI GETAGRRRIP,

I haven't tried it, but I think it might do it.

    p.s. (the edit)
Scratch that; I think it just does directory and file names - might be useful anyway.
