Vista Build 5456 Review
Little more than a month after issuing a bug-laden Windows Vista Beta 2, Microsoft has shipped its first post-Beta 2 interim build of the next Windows and it makes up a lot of lost ground. Indeed, it's hard not to view this build and not believe that Microsoft is absolutely back on track.

Well I just got 5456 installed this evening. It's early days, but so far I like it, it does seem more stable, and there are some interesting new toys to play with. User Account Control is still as annoying as ever though, and will be disabled tomorrow.
I just wish Creative would produce some x64 drivers for my X-Fi

Unfortunately 5456 is only available to the official beta testers on the MS Connect site. Beta 2 (5384) is the only version that is generally available to all.

I am an official Beta tester on the connect site. I chose to have them send me a CD a couple of months ago and just got it yesterday. Perhaps I should have d/l'd it.

Yep, they only send a handful of builds on disc, all the other builds have to be downloaded. They are good fast servers on MS Connect anyway

Nice of them to tell us that.
If I download the current available iso, and I presume that will be the latest release, can I do an over the top type installation/upgrade and save all the settings and work I've done so far?
EDIT.. actually it looks like the current download is the ver I already have judging by the URL/file name.. 5384.

Nope, the latest versiuon is 5456, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding it on MS Connect. AFAIK there ids no propblem with upgrading your existing Setup, thopugh I didn't try it myself, I decided to go for a clean install.
