    Laptop Advice

    Hi all,

I'm on the lookout for a laptop, my first instincts was to but a Pentium 4 or AMD, while looking on eBay i keep seeing Intel Centrino, is this processor made by intel celeron, as this is definantly what i wanted to steer clear of.

    Any advice welcomed

It isn't actually a processor, it's a name for a whole set of technology. The processor will be the excellent Pentium M on a Centrino laptop.

    What is Centrino?

Thanks Sparks, that's the one to go for then i think, just 1 more question as i never saw it on that site, if i see a Laptop listed as Intel Pentium 4 M, does this mean the same thing (intel Centrino) and thios means wireless internet right?

    Thanks

Well having the Pentium M on its own doesn't make it a Cenrino laptop, you can have the Pentium M processor without the rest of the chips that make it into a Centrino. So if you want the Centrino stuff you do have to look for a laptop that explicitly says it's a Centrino.

Excellent price. I hope for you its in good condition. Acer make good inexpensive laptops. Its a shame that he doesn't write what model it is. The only thing that worries me is:
Windows XP Pro and Home Lics on Laptop
Why would it have both on there?!

    Hi guys,

The laptop i bought is Acer Travelmate 4060, it has windows xp pro which the guy i bought it from installed, now my question is, i was reading the manual and it says the button at the front is to enable/disable bluetooth (optional) now i've pressed it and nothing seems to happen, how can i find out if my model has bluetooth.

Integrated Bluetooth® technology facilitates cable-free data transmission between a host of other similarly equipped appliances.
    From: http://global.acer.com/products/notebook/tm4060.htm#01

Also check in Control panel|Bluetooth Devices, if you open up a bluetooth search from there when there is a device near the laptop with bluetooth activated, it should pick it up and add it to the device list.

It should do yeah, do you have a bluetooth device such as a mobile phone that you can use to test it, activate bluetooth on the device and sit it next to the laptop, see if XP picks it up in the system tray, and if it doesn't, flick the switch and see of it works, you may also want to inspect the laptop for a small "B" = bluetooth logo.....like this:

I haven't got Bluetooth, turned my phone's bluetooth on, waved it all over the Laptop and nothing, never mind i'll buy a bluetooth dongle for it.

    Cheers
