Word template doesn't work if created on anther machine

Dudes:

I created a template and used it all day, then I sent it to a different machine and found it no longer contains the styles I'd set up.

The versions are the same Word 2003 but there must be something about the default settings that preventing the styles from being retained.

Anyone?
