Remote Server Behaving Badly

Hi. I have a server running Server 2003 Web Edition which I access remotely using RDC. Yesterday I logged on and was unable to browse the net with Internet Explorer. I am getting "Page cannot be displayed" and Cannot find server or DNS Error. I had not changed any settings since the last logon and no one else has accessed the machine.

This is really frustrating as the computer is obviously connected to the internet as I am viewing the desktop remotely. There is also ftp server software running without a problem both uploading and downloading. I installed Firefox in case it was an Internet Explorer problem but no luck.

It times out when I ping the IP of the server from my laptop but the server successfully pings other computers.

I have tried all the usual disabling of firewall and anti-virus, rebooting etc. There is nothing of note in Event Viewer. I am stumped. Any suggestions?
