Accessing Network files
In our family we have three different makes of notebooks, an Asus, Fujitsu and a Toshiba. They are wireless linked. All notebooks are Centrinos and run XP Pro and virtually all the programs are the same on each computer.
However you cannot access the Program Files and Documents and Settings folders on the Fujitsu or Toshiba over the network from each other or the Asus, but the Asus folders are accessible from the Fujitsu and Toshiba.
What needs to be done to solve this annoying problem please?
Apologies to Virtualdr for originally posting this thread in wrong forum

The Fujitsu and Toshiba laptops probably still have Simple File Sharing enabled. Disable that in Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options | View and that sort of restriction goes away.
Safe computing is a habit, not a toolkit.

Have you verified the Windows Firewall allows file and print sharing?

Thanks Tuttle and Tropical, your messages were waiting for me this morning. I have tried disabling the Simple Fire Sharing, but that has not corrected the situation.
The Firewall settings on all computers allow file and print sharing.

Be sure thos folders are not designated as private.

If you are within a workgroup, each computer should have the same workgroup name. Also check for the following items.

I also think simple file sharing should be enabled, not disabled in a workgroup environment.

Thanks Robert for your suggestions however the problem still exists.
I did wonder whether it was something to do with the manufacturers as they have their own install disks, as is the case with most notebooks, so will wait to see what they say.
Thanks again
