Question Found New Hardware

I have a DV7000 digital video camera. I've seen it listed as TEC, SONY, NIKAI, JVC etc... it came with software (driver) that my son left in Russia. I have reinstalled Windows XP on my pc and it doesn't recognize a driver. I have searched high and low. Could someone please shed some light for me. The wizzard is looking for SYNTEK USB CAMERA. I can't find anything. I just want to be able to get the pics off of this camera.

Syntec homesite seems to be a semiconductor manuafacturer so windows may be giving you a false lead here.
Does it have any other information regarding make and model written on the camera or an FCCID number?

The ID on the bottom is TEC04D8
It's actually Syntek not Syntec, I have been all over the internet trying to check it out. If you go to ebay and search for DV7000 you'll see the cameras. I am so dumbfounded.

syntek dv7000 software

I'm pretty sure I've just fallen for an Ebay scam where I bid for a Canon DV7000 camera and I then get an email saying he has another camera and would I like to buy it. So I buy this Canon DV7000 but I'm pretty sure it's not a Canon camera because it searches for Syntek USB software even though a CD was supplied but it doesn't find anything. I can't even get my computer to recognise anything other than "found new hardware".
I'm wondering whether just to buy a card reader to get the images off the camera,
Thanks

Cool DV7000 camera driver

I bought this camera also. If you need the syntek driver, please email me and I'll be glad to send it to you. The driver is an executable file and is 2.57 Mb in size. My camera has a Canon lens cap and I thought I was buying a Canon camcorder. Oh well, didn't pay that much for it, got it in a pawn shop. I haven't learned completely how to use it yet, but I am able to download still shots. It is my first digital camcorder and I haven't played with it that much, so can't really offer an opinion on how good it is.

PM Jaynemr. As indicated above the driver is available. FWIW, I'm finding references online to this being a Nikai (brand) device. Maybe this will be useful?

I too had the same problem. The wizard for some reason, cannot find the driver file.
However, the driver is available on the CD. Get into the "driver" folder and double click on the setup folder. As someone mentioned earlier this is an executable file. It installs without a problem. Good luck!!

Dv-D 500

Hello,

I got a very similar problem:

Got a NIKOTEC DV-D 500 with a broken Driver CD.
WinXP is crying for a Syntek USB Cam Driver, but its nowhere to find
on the internet....could somebody please help me out ?

Is this Cam a Fake ?? The Big Lens seems to be a fake(focus only), and the small looks very cheap.......

Thanks a lot....

Wiseblood

Bought it without the cd.
Also the damn thing is asking for the Syntek USB Camera driver.
Still nowhere to find.
Can someone please send me the driver?

edit:

finaly found it at driverguide.
searched for syntek and found one for dv3500,any OS.
Installed it and ignored all warnings of unknown manufactor.

Even with driverguide,it was troublesome.Went searching for the wrong OS.
Instead all,I set it for XP.
And instead of syntek,I searched for nikotek.
