My win 98 CD is not a bootable CD, I need to create a bootable Win98 CD to install the OS on a PC which doesn’t have a Floppy drive, I only Have a CD drive.
Any help is much appreciated

Hi, you will need burning software such as Nero or EZ CD Creator, go to the site below for detailed instructions. Sidewinder

Just a note...
The instructions at the link Sidewinder provided will create a cd you can boot from, but it won't be a bootable cd with the win98 setup files also on it. In other words, you won't be making a full-fledged win98 bootable install cd. You'll have to boot off the cd you create, then when you get to the dos prompt remove your boot cd and put in your win98 cd and run setup (or eomsetup) off that manually. This may be fine for your needs. If not then post back.

but ORIGINAL Win98 and Win98se CD's ARE Bootable....
the only ones that are not bootable are certain Custom OEM cd's (the original MS OEM CD's are definatly Bootable though)
If your useing Nero, you can create a bootable CD, and copy the Install and Cab files to the Bootable CD Project..

Haven't been on for a day or so, so am just seeing this again...
Before getting in to any specific detail on how to make your win98 cd bootable it first needs to me known whether you have either the file SETUP.EXE or OEMSETUP.EXE in the root folder or the Win98 folder of the cd you have. If not, then that is going to be a problem.

OK then...
1) Download the attachment I've enclosed in this post and save to some place temporarily. It is a file called W98Boot.zip. Unzip this file, which will create a file called W98Boot.IMG. You will need this IMG file below.
2) Create a directory on one of your drives called Win98CD. Copy in to it "all" the files and directories off the Win98 CD you have.
3) Open up you cd burning program. I'm going to be using Nero here.
4) Choose the option to create a new bootable cd (cd-rom (boot)).
5) You'll need to supply a boot image (the boot tab). This is where you will tell it to use the W98Boot.IMG image file you downloaded and saved in step 1. In terms of options here you want to use a) Floppy Emulation 1.44mb, b) the default nero boot-loader, c) the load segment will be 07C0, and d) the number of sectors to load will be 1.
6) Add all the files and folers from the Win98CD directory you created in step 2 to your cd complilation.
7) Finally, burn the cd.
That's it.

Glad to here ya got what ya needed. I was afraid I was too vague in the steps I gave above. And sorry it took so long to get this resolved, but I haven't been on here too much the last few days.
The process is sort of like creating a slipstreamed XP cd, with a few subtle differences (like using floppy emulation, and a fewer number of sectors for the boot image requirement.
