    Thunderbird Problem

I had originally posted this at the Mozilla forum site and no one bothered to respond so I decided to post here as I have never been let down.

Problems With Sending Via Mail Lists:

My install went well with Thunderbird 1.0 and everything appears to be configured correctly. I can download my e-mail and send my messages as long as they are done individually.

When I try to send an e-mail to multiple people using the List function I get an error message that my Smtp configuration is incorrect. I have tried creating a new List and the same problem always happens.

Does anyone have suggestions as to what is going on and how I can fix it?

    Thanks all,

    Doc

Thanks for the reply but it is not my anti virus. I have AVAST turned off for outgoing mail.

The exact error message I get is, "An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: [PERMFAIL] destination not valid within DNS. Please verify that your email address is correct in your MAil preferences and try again."

Everything is fine if I send to individual address or even if I send to multiple addresses that are separated by a comma.

Sorry about saying the error message was an smtp problem but I normally take care of my mail at night before calling it quits for the day.

It sounds like the name of your list is being sent to the mail server instead of being interpreted by Thunderbird. Are you selecting the list from your address book or just typing its name in the To field?

I am selecting the list from the address book. I click on the list name and it get listed in the To field.
