DSL Help
I installed DSL a week ago and can connect to the Internet just fine but I can't use anything like getright, aim, bittorrent,Kazaa. I have read the manual on port forwarding and tried it but with no luck.. I sent an e-mail to the dsl modem's manufacture and they sent me directions on how to open ports by Telnet but telnet will not connect. Does anyone no what I should try? I have tried with firewall off and on. I am running the XP Firewall.
Thanks MXfreak

I read somewhere that Zone Alarm can cause problems with some routers that have 'built in' firewalls.
Or something like that.
The thread or article or whatever it was specifically mentioned bittorrent not working until ZA was disabled.
Sorry for such a stab in the dark, but it's a start maybe.
Of course if you don't have ZA then it's not much help at all.

Hi,
Here in the UK there are some ISP's who do not allow/inhibit the the use of peer 2 peer software/networks (don't know the technology they use to do this but apparently they do), I'm assuming that
getright,aim,bittorrent,Kazaa.
are peer 2 peer, so the problems you have could be ISP related if US ISP's operate similar restrictions.
Just something to consider, sorry cant be more specific.

It's not mentioned in the AUP.
Just no linking to porn, crack, warez, offensive sites.
