It is somewhat encouraging bad behaviour is it not to employ a person who has been a proven criminal in the role as a writer of security software,no matter how much their activities may be monitored by the company.I personally would not have faith in the companies future security products which I suspect may or may not have back doors written into them?

With all the war stories I've read where the virus maker's motivation was to prove his/her prowess in order to get a job and/or to "help" security people see how vulnerable their systems are, then I would be real hesitant to offer a job to one of them. Plenty of smart folks out there who get their positions honestly. As far as I'm concerned, if someone makes a virus that crashes systems and causes millions of dollars of damage, why should we give them quarter? They can write about how they did it from prison...they have plenty of time there.

Yep give them quarters, in a prison.

    Devils island would do nicely.

    Depends on the job.
Private sector - no way. Others more deserving
Government - maybe. If they use them against other "countries"?

I mean, do you think the US and Russia weighed the morality of putting the German scientists to work after they aquired them when Berlin fell?
No Wernher Von Braun then folks.

Of course life so hot being an "employee" to start with. Interesting story on the rocket engineers handling by the US.
