Great Package?

A lot of sites and boards are also saying there are lots of problems and SP2 upgrading may not be the best thing to do just yet - too many problems. See this:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=842242

Just for info....

It's very important to put the problems in perspective, what you always hear about on the forums is where someone has had a problem, but what you don't hear is from the other 100 or 1,000 or 10,000, whatever, who have had no problems at all.

And I've got to say I think MS have really shot themselves in the foot with that article. Nearly all the problems with those apps are simple because the firewall is turned on by default and is blocking Internet access to those apps. I have quite a few apps on that list, and by turning the Windows Firewall off and continuing to use Zone Alarm Pro, I have had zero problems with any of the apps. But people, understandably, look at that list and decide they want nothing to do with SP2. And there are a lot of bugfixes and closed security holes in SP2.

Also, I've noticed that some of the reported problems are with downloads that have come from non-MS sites. If you download from anywhere other than MS you don't know what you're getting. MS have asked that any download of SP2 should be reported to piracy@microsoft.com, so clearly they're taking this quite seriously.

I ordered one and I don't even have XP. If I run it on my Win98SE machine will that get me, like, Windows 2001 1/2?

Just kidding, I'll get a lot of use out it. I find a lot of people would rather let someone else install something like that.

I ordered the sp2 cd from microsoft, got it within a week ... I installed it about 4 days ago .... I was a little leary on doing this, considering all the pros and cons that have been posted .... well, the installation went without a hitch, and everything on the comp is running great ....
