There are 2 quick things to try. You can search for the Excel.xlb file and delte it or you can try finding the lotus notes file plugin. It might be in c:\program files\microsoft Office\(Maybe xlstart)

I am not sure what the plugin name would be. I only have a PDF plugin on mine. However I think it is located in the directory I gave you.

I would just move the file instead of deleting it. I do suspect that the plugin is the problem though.

The problem is *probably* not related to Notes. The Notes RIP file is created by the QNC debugger that ships with Lotus Notes. It's not the cause of the error, its just the utility that's trapping the error and presenting it on the screen. If QNC (aka Qincy) wasn't running, then you'd get a Windows OS based error message instead.

Two things I've seen that can cause the semaphore timeout problem: very long path-and-filenames, and opening/closing files on a netwrok drive, usually when its referenced by URL rather than a mapped drive letter.
