Bluetooth dongle and MS bluetooth mouse question

    Hi All

I have the new MS bluetooth mouse explorer...actually I have two!..I discovered they are great for gaming and I got a second one for my Sager laptop. The bluetooth USB adapter sticks out of the back of the laptop a little too far for me...like 4"... I would like to buy a more lower profile bluetooth adapter/dongle but am not sure it'll work with the mouse. I believe its just a receiver and now that the mouse it set up another receiver should do the same job....but...thei is microsoft we're dealing with... so my question is will my bluetooth MS explorer mouse continue to work right if I swap bluetooth USB dongle/adapters??

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Mike

I would think so. In fact, you should be able to use your bluetooth mouse with your bluetooth cellular phone. The 'dongle' should just make your PC 'bluetooth ready'. But I would buy somewhere that's good about returns just in case.

Thanks for the advice.... I do know from reading a review that this mouse won't install with a laptop with a blutooth internal receiver or other brand receiver.... I'm wondering if itll work with one once installed... I guess Ill just have to get one and see but I thought there might be some MS tech expert that could tell me a work around or clear up the matter....lol take care

Microsoft's new line is that any Bluetooth card/adaptor which supports the HID (Human Interface Device) profile should work.

Bluetooth compatibility is supposed to be a bit hit and miss, but someone may have made it work. Try Google - I did and my three Bluetooth devices play nice together.
