How can I open CDR files without CorelDraw ?
Hi!
I have a CorelDraw clipart CD, but without the application. Does anyone know a viewer that could open CDR graphic files ?
Thanks a lot.

Thanks for the answer but ...
I know Irfanview. The problem with it is it only opens CDR files in preview mode, so it is really not much use. Is there a viewer that can open CDR files in full size ?

Sorry, but you didn't say excluding Irfanview. So, I didn't know you already tried that one.
Maybe some one else in here has a idea for one that will do as you ask.

Adobe's PageMaker can import CDR files. You can d/l a trial version of the PageMaker from Adobe but I'm not sure rather the trial version can do the same as the full version though.

I'm quite confused as to what you mean by "preview mode" I have Irfanview and Corel Draw and I can open .cdr without problem . once you've opened it in Irfanview can you save it as a jpg or something else ?

Thanks a lot for all your replies. Preview means you only can see a tiny picture it is impossible to resize in the same resolution, so you see big squares as outlines if you make it larger. I will try Pagemaker and PSP, they might work but they also might not work with the Coreldraw 7 cliparts CD I have, not a recent one as you see.

Since this is a clipart cd, have you tried Microsoft's Word versions. You can insert clipart into Word using "insert" menu and choosing Picture, then clipart.

Word requires an additional graphics program like ImageStream in order to recognize CDR files.
ImageStream can be found with a Froogle Search for about $10.
Now is a good opportunity to learn how to convert an image from one format to another. Graphics people are very familiar with this, and doing so has its benefits. Converting to BMP, JPG, or GIF, the image can then be opened in the various Windows graphics programs, and then resized (if necessary).
NConvert is one of those programs, along with several others, all available for free...

NConvert and NView are DOS applications which the author later combined into the Windows application XnView. It opens and converts cdr files in preview sizes only.
Word 97 & up has the filter for Coreldraw's .cdr, .cmt, .cdt, and .pat files with some limitation:
Using CorelDRAW Files with Microsoft Office. Andre, depends on the files you have it may or may not work for you.

Agfain thanks a lot
With all your good hints, I will certainly open these CDR files finally. Bad luck with PSP, these files are the kind it can't open but if there is such a cheap application as Imagestream to open them in Word, I will buy it. All my thanks to everybody.
