reinstall WinXPPro
Hi every body
How to reinstall WinXPPro I think I need to repair my OS. My CD is not bootable (don’t know why)
The problem that I am facing now is as follows:
Windows will close a my game when I am already in the middle of it for no apparent reason.
3-4 times I received a blue screen massage telling me that “Window had shutdown to prevent your computer from damage. If this is the first time you receive this massage restart your computer, if not try to uninstall any hard ware / software you have recently installed”
Rebooting (by pressing the reboot button) will solve the problem and this happened for few games at separate dates. No additional hardware was added.
Any suggestions??
Regards
Ahmed

I wouldn't think you have an OS problem. Are you getting any error messages outside of the one game? Are they happening in all games? Are they coming up with any other application? Try loading up another game if you haven't and see if you get the same error. With seven fans you should be cool enough, but have you had the case side off to make sure they are all operating? What power supply are you running, and wattage? With seven fans you could be pushing the PS to its limit.

To make the PC boot from the CD you need to go into the BIOS setup and change the boot order, I have mine to boot from floppy first, then CD, then C: - I find this nicely covers all eventualities. If you can't set it to boot from CD, then you need to download the app which creates the 6 boot floppies from MS. Here's the URL for the Pro version (Note: Home needs a different set):
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...7-4FED408EA73F
However, like kabyrinth I think re-installing Windows may be a case of overkill here. It sounds like it might be a driver problem - before you re-install Windows I'd download and install all the latest drivers for all your hardare (you should do that before reinstalling Windows anyway).
Nick.

Thanks for your replies,
1.The 7 fans are working properly.
2.the power supply is 350KW
3.Several games had the same problems.
4.I am using the latest Nvidia detonator. And latest sound driver.
5.I am not receiving any other error massages.
6.Bios is set for CDROM boot, floppy and C:
7.Just downloaded the 6 bootable floppies as advised, but I am not going to reinstall pending other replies (if there will be any)

Are the seven fans all blowing the same direction? This really sounds like a heat problem, especially the prevent damage part combined with the 'only when 3d is running' part.
Is the video card cooled actively? Do you have a way to check your internal temps on the videocard and proc?
You might try letting the PC run with the case open or with the video clocked below spec to see if that fixes the problem temporarily.
The comment about too little power supply is a valid one, too. Particularly for new cards. Do you know the wattage of your PS?

I agree with the Professor. Pull your case side off and run the game like that. If that doesn't solve the problem. Post back how many 80 m fans you are running. 350 W PS, should be enough, as long as it is a good brand name. Enermax etc. But if its a cheapy 350W it could be a problem.

Dear friends, thank you very much for your valuable input
The fans are as follows;
1. power supply fan (came with the system)
2. processor fan(came with the system)
3. video card fan(came with the system)
4. mother board fan(came with the system)
5. intake fan (additional at the front side of the CPU) sucking
6. exhaust fan (additional at the back side of the CPU) blowing
7. Blower fan (additional at the back side of the CPU) exactly under the VGA card blowing outside the case.
8. Power supply 350KW iCute a well known brand at this part of the world.
9. Opening the side case and operating the PC will defiantly disturb the airflow resulting in ineffective cooling system.
10. Just to inform you that I am a mechanical Engineer with more than 22 years in the trade and I know exactly what is required for system cooling.
Best wishes for Christmas and happy New Year
Kind regards
Ahmed

" But seriously, did you know that AMD recommends a +300W PSU for every CPU that runs at +1GHz? I bet you didn't know that huh. And do you think a P4 system running at 2.2GHz with two hard drives running in a RAID-0 config, a high end video card and DVD Writer doesn't consume a truckload of power? I bet that if you try to power up all of this stuff with only a generic (white label) 250W or 300W PSU, you'll turn your PC into some highly explosive material. Such cheap-ass power supply units just can't handle the continuous peak performance demand of ultra high end rigs." This was quoted from a PS review of the icute 300. The review of their 420 W high-end model, showed an acute power fluctuation rate through all wattages. I couldn't find anything about their 350 W model, although it was listed. Three fans have been added to your system, (at least that's what I understand from your post). If you are getting power spikes and dips, along with the added power usage of the three fans, that could very well be the problem.
