    Yahoo, spam and bulkmail.

Yahoooooo sends stuff to my bulk mail folder. If I find something in my inbox that is spam, I can click on "This is Spam" and I guess it gets blocked or something.
If I want to block my address in my bulk mail box. I click on it and I can't click on "This is Spam" because it now says, "This is not Spam". So how do I block the spam in my bulk mail box if there is nowhere to "Block Address" or "This is Spam link"?
    I get about 100 junk mail s**t a day!!

    Thanks, JB

One way to do it would be to disable the Bulk Mail feature. Click Mail Options|General Preferences. Scroll down to Special Folders, remove the check mark next to Redirect incoming unsolicited mail to the Bulk Mail folder and save your change. Now all email (and spam) will end up in your Inbox.

Note: There is a limit on the number of email addresses you can block. Something like 100 I believe.

What happens to the bulk mail, does it get blocked or reported to Yahoo? I would not want the email going to my inbox. I get 100 a day.

As far as I know, no.

Open a new account then kill the old one?

Why this is of no use. First of all. If anyone wants my email address from the net, I would only give my address that I use so I won't get junk in my "Family and Friends" email account. I need this one for that purpose. If I open up another one then in a month it will be full again. I also have many drafts in there from computer stuff to health topics and links. I would have to move all of those. So you see I need an account like this. It does help that Yahooooooo put an empty link on the bulk mail just recently. So you don't have to open up the folder and delete from there. I just hit delete and I don't worry what is in there. I wonder how Yahoo can designate what goes to the inbox and what goes to the bulk mail because there is junk in both places.

Blocking addresses is kind of pointless if you are trying to prevent spam. Most of those addresses are just random garbage like [email protected] -- remember anyone can't put any reply address they want on a message. It is not verified in any way. If I mail you a letter (as in real paper mail), I can write whatever return address I want in the top corner of the envelope. Same idea.

They probably filter it based on the servers that relayed the message to Yahoo, and by keywords in the message (like HOT GIRLS, INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY, DREAM MIRACLE CURE FOR BALDNESS, PRESTIGIOUS NON-ACCREDITED UNIVERSITY, etc) and the number of people that appear in the "To" header.

People don't need to know your address to mail you: spammers often send mails to randomly generated addresses, based on dictionary words and common names and certain other patterns.

Ultimately once an account is overrun by spam, you can do little but abandon the account Unless you are comfortable with a setting like "allow only email from people in my address book" which I think Yahoo has.

I was told that if you block an address, you will eventually end up with a full block address folder of those who will not be able to come back to haunt you. And eventually after some months, they will drop off and they will not send you anything in the future so you can empty your blocked address folder and start anew with some more blocked ones.
    This is not true?
