What file associations are you talking about? Where are you setting this option? Control Panel > Default Programs?

What do you mean follow the post? I don't see any file association settings in Firefox, so your post makes no sense. I'll just let Train handle this one then.

disk scsn error check
Apparently some of the issues were disk related.
I ran disk scan and first it said no conflicts, errors, i ran it any way, got to the point is was going to take 2 days so i canceled it after about 4 hours.
When it finished it told me to restart, and it went through a lengthy process to complete,
Has worked great since.
First it lied to me then it fixed the errors.
See how long it lasts

If it were my computer, I would run the hard drive manufacturer's diagnostics and check the S.M.A.R.T. stats to verify that there are no hardware issues. Just a thought.

Had the Seatools for Windows goof a couple time so I DO NOT trust it.
Toshiba does not have a tool, but seagate's does work.

Toshiba does not have their own diagnostics, but you can use SeaTools. The Ultimate Boot CD has this on it.
