I am confused here. When I disabled AHCI and reboot, it says there is a problem. You mean at this stage, I need to pop in my XP disk and reboot with the XP disk to install ?

YES. Disable AHCI, boot from the XP CD, and run the installation.

Ooops ! Maybe spoke too soon. The new install was working ok since my last post until now. So not sure if the stauts Resolved whould be left here or I should start a new thread.
Moderatpr - Please just do what is needed.
I juist tried to boot up and all I get is the screen giving all the options from Safe Mode, Start from last known good config, Start normally....
When I choose either one of these, it reboot and then present me the same page again. So I can't do anything except when it reboot, it shows the Windows XP logo page
before showing the option and on the Windows XP page, I was able to press the Enter key to show a Menu and after I I selected and ran the diagnosti, it does not show any result as to why this problem is.
What should I do next please ? Any advise greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advanced.

I installed the free edition of WD True Arconis Imaging program and took a image of the C drive partition. Now I can't even go into Safe Mode to delete it

No one has any suggestion how I can get into Safe Mode to delete the past program installed short of reinstalling XP again - if I still can boot from a USB DVD drive ?

Shutdown, wait one minute at least.
Now bootup and tap F8
See if that works.

No didn't work. Tried that yesterday and again today after turning it off and left overnight.
Should I try booting from the XP CD and do a repair ?

Looks like I have to reinstall XP all over again ?

That's probably your best option at this point. I already posted a link about clean installing XP in post #18
