Installed, used it for a while, and went back to FF2.
    Add-ons authors are lazy bastrads...LOL
Lot of add-ons are not compatible with FF3, and I can't operate without some of them.

If you don't need the add-ons, get FF3. I haven't tried the new features but it seems about 5 times faster than FF2.

Firefox 3 downloads cross 10 million mark in less than two days:

As for the Add-ons and Extensions that are incompatible, give 'em a few weeks.

From the quick searches I've done while trying to replace some of mine, I'd say that the incompatibilities seem to be in the majority. To me that reflects badly on Firefox as well -- I hope there were some seriously good reasons behind breaking most of the addons which are one of the product's selling points.

Fortunately I managed to find replacements for all the incompatible ones, just like I had to when going from Firefox 1 to Firefox 2. And I also found oldbar, which un-broke the location bar.

Overall though, my first impressions were pretty negative. The performance and memory changes had better be significant.

Edit 2 hours later - They also managed to break drag-and-drop of images from Firefox into other apps. Whee.

Well, I don't want to blame Mozilla on add-ons issues. They're all made by independent authors. Beta, and RC versions of FF3 have been out there long enough for those people to update add-ons.
What's more, final FF3 is actually identical as the latest RC release, which was out there for at least a month.

But what broke the add-ons in the first place? Apparently a whole bunch of API changes that they're "still working on compiling a complete list" of.

If Microsoft pulled that sort of thing with Windows (or even IE) there'd be people clamouring for blood.

The other big breaking change seems to be, well, the version number. Apparently each individual extension has to be touched to mark that it's installable in Firefox 3.0.* as well as 2.0.*. Um, Firefox devs, if bookkeeping is the only problem, any chance of an override so I can try my old extensions and see if they work?
