    windows 3.1 internet

    ive got the winsock and the winzip and its unzipped on 3.1 computer

    its a laptop and the mouse alternates between laptop mouse and other mouse when i change it and external modem is now plugged into that port so i cant detect modem.. ? is that why?

    its a cardinal modem and its not listed 28800 bps

    1) Trying to use an external mouse and external modem on the same COM (Serial) port isn't going to work. You'll need to remove all other software that is using the COM port that the modem will be plugged into. Reboot. Now try setting up your modem.

    2) Cardinal modems come in a variety of speeds. What's the model number? (And, what's the question?)

    its a 28800 modem.. all the words have been smudged off label on bottom but a thing on back says rs 232 c
