Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

1. Please open Notepad
• Click Start , then Run
• Type notepad .exe in the Run Box.

2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window:

Code:
KillAll::

Mbr::

3. Save the above as CFScript.txt

4. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix again.

5. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), please post the following reports/logs into your next reply:
• Combofix.txt
• A new HijackThis log.

Update on my PC

Broni,

Thank you so very much for all of your help so far! It's great to know that there are people out there like you who would go through all of this trouble for a complete stranger. It means so much to me!

I followed all of your directions. I defragmented my main hard drive (my C: drive which houses my operating system) and it seems to be running a fraction faster. Unfortunately, it is still not as fast as it was a few months ago. It is extremely slow starting up, and the only programs that I show up in the systray are Avast! and Adaware so I'm unsure if there are other programs starting up in the background that I don't know about.

Looking at the HiJackThis logfile, there are a few things I don't think should be running (no other programs are currently running besides Firefox, adaware and avast):

O16 - DPF: {5F8469B4-B055-49DD-83F7-62B522420ECC} (Facebook Photo Uploader Control) - http://upload.facebook.com/controls/...toUploader.cab
O16 - DPF: {CD995117-98E5-4169-9920-6C12D4C0B548} - http://gamedownload.ijjimax.com/game...Plugin9USA.cab
O23 - Service: InstallDriver Table Manager (IDriverT) - Macrovision Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\11\Intel 32\IDriverT.exe

I realize this may be asking too much from someone who cannot physically interact with my computer, so if you think I should take it to a specialist let me know.

Again, I am extremely grateful for all of your help so far and thank you for your input!

No, there isn't anything running in the background, besides what we can see from HJT.
O16 entries correspond to ActiveX Objects, otherwise known as Downloaded Program Files, for Internet Explorer, so there are not really running anywhere.

InstallDriver Table Manager can be safely disabled, but I don't think, it'll help much.

What's the size/free space of your hard drive?

Free Space

I have a 40gb primary drive, C:, with 12gb free. I ran the defrag this afternoon and it helped a little. My other drive is 250gb, with 40gb free, and it is used only as storage. There isn't any OS installed on it.

I'm concerned that it could be a hardware problem. But my system still recognized all of my RAM and that my processor is at full speed. I installed Speedfan and it shows two temps for the dual core processor, with one consistently hovering around 140F. Both fans are working. I installed an extra 2gbs of RAM in June, so I thought that it might be drawing too much power or overheating? but the problem didn't start until a month ago. I'm at a loss.

Any and all advice is very much appreciated. Thank you again.

Surely, your computer is clean, so you'll have to look somewhere else.

140 °F = 60 °C
As for desktop, it's rather high. I'd say, too high.
That may be a cause of a slowness.

60C - Looks like it is time to clean the fan blades and blow all the dust bunnies out of the case.
