    Another question while Avast is downloading... Should I delete the old restore points so that she doesn't accidentally restores to a bad location? Or because she is cleaned it won't restore all the garbage that was on here?

    I saw that Troy did do some of what you said. He didn't download sp2 so I am as I type...
    I am not sure if he followed your directions to turn off and on the restore tool. I cannot get to it. I have tried to right click on the computer icon and noting. I can get to user account and see task there but not the one you mentioned. I did create a new restore point names "Cleaned Thanks to Broni" that way my mother-in-law will know to pick this one... lol

    I knew I read that somewhere about the restore points... I thought it was in another post, sorry.

    As I said in my last post, I cannot find the restore turn on and off.

    PS I wish I had a mouse trap for this laptops out-of-control mouse! lol

    Go Start and in "Start search" paste this:
    rstrui.exe
    Hold SHIFT and CTRL keys, press Enter.

    Broni,

    Thank you so much the computer is running get. She printed out your instructions on when to run the programs. I know she will. Her virus scan is on a schedule for weekly quick scan and monthly full scann (Avast).

    This is resolved and I cannot thank you enough.

    PS. Troy was telling his Dad how smart you are on computers. He looked at some of your other posts. He is impressed. I know he will be back just to read some post.
