    firefox seems to be done?

    i have been using firefox as my browser for around a year with never having a problem and i would usually downdl any updates they had with no problems well with the latest upgrade something went wrong?? I was able to use it for a couple of days then it quit functioning all i get is a timed out error message.i have uninstalled reinstalled older and newer versions removed any and all mozilla items that were on the pc including the registry.but with no avail i am curently running Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0..this is from the help button on the tool bar while the window is open...

    I do not know what the problem is???

    Do you get this with just FF or is IE showing these syptoms too on your system and how are you connecting i.e. dial up,dsl or network?

    no everything else works fine just firefox i connect with cable

    If its just firefox check the connection settings via tools/options/general/connection settings and if your using a proxy make sure its configured correctly on that page too.You might also recheck your firewall is confifigured correctly as it may be blocking the FF connection.

    i do not have a proxy and the browser worked fine then just quit.windows firewall is set to allow FF..I just don't get it I even did a system restore after the issue started and that did not help???i am lost!!! i can not even access my router using FF??

    i have windows firewall and mcaffe they both have allowed the firefox process so i deleted the entry and now when i try to open FF it does not even ask me for acceptance from either firewall??? I can not get much help from firefox(mozillazine) forum either but I can tell you that I am not the only one with this problem.....

    Hi boots963,
    fwiw, my rv:is 1.7.12 and Firefox 1.07.....so there is a later version of 1.07.
    I know you have gone thru the installation, un and re....but you might want to clean out all ffox files , etc and do a fresh download and install.
    Just a thought.

    i have tried with new install old install removed everything in the registry.removed all files from anywhere search could find them..????

    I had a similar problem with an earlier version of Firefox. The way I got it to work was to create a folder on my desktop and unzip the downwload to that folder and installed from there.I haven't had any problems since and I still have my Firefox folder on my desktop. (Don't laugh it works for me)

    Have you tried running Firefox in safe mode? If that works, a theme or extension has gone bad. Remove one theme or extension at a time until it starts working again.

    well i do not have any extensions or themes installed...but i will try again it has been a while since i tried that
