Hi, go to my computer, control panel, sounds & audio devices. Under the volume tab, put a checkmark in the mute box, remove the checkmark in place volume control icon in task bar box, click apply. BJ

i did that as administrator, then sign in as user, speaker icon still reappears.
im trying to create or distribute a user group account, so that i can disable the user group from seeing the speaker icon.

Disable the sound card in device manager.
Uninstall the sound drivers.
Disable the sound card in the bios if it is onboard or remove it completely if it's a stand alone.
Just a few ideas, might not get rid of the icon, but suer will disable sound.
