let me get this strait ... your using trillian for aim only?

if so ... why not just use aim+?

No I am using it for three different IM programs. And if it came to having to have AIM on my computer to chat with family and friends, then I just would not chat. I will put nothing on my computer that relates to AOL in any sense.

And I've finally got it set up correctly.

I figured it all out, and parts of it were user error, or not knowing how to set things up. One particular problem I had was with the font setting. I didn't realize the "send with message" had to be checked for each function I used. Fixed that. And my AIM kept telling me it couldn't connect, fixed that too, had two users in the connection manager, took out the one that wasn't for AIM.
