    Sound problems

Recently I stopped getting any audio output. I have no idea why, I tried the usual stuff (reinstalling drivers, checking speakers), to no avail. We had someone check it out, they told us we'd need a new motherboard, CPU and memory. Seeing as this would cost a bundle, I'd like to try myself first. Can anyone think of any reason?

Sorry for the lack of info, I don't have any myself. I just had winamp running and suddenly I didn't hear anything.

Oh yeah, people on an MSN video conference can still hear what input my microphone gets. I don't know if that helps.

I know it might be hard because of the little info, but thanks to anyone who tries.

Well we need some info to go on. Tell us what OS you're running, and you can get the rest of the info on the sound card from this nice little utility:

Look in Devices>Physical Devices and you should find the sound card listed.
