HDD Clicks and ....
Ok I never ran into this before but I have a three plus year old hdd wd 40 gig 7200 rpm....I'll start my comp os runs for a bit and then i'll hear a click ..like an hdd click or sound and then secs later lock up... reset and it works for hrs and then sometime after it will click and do the same thing....but after a reset it will work for another long time...I'll shut down and the next day same thing .....
My assumption is the HDD is getting old and weak.. Anyone think different ?

Hi Inferno.....my hard disk was doing clicks the other day, only noticed because i decided to put click sounds to my mouse n turn up the sound.....Turned out to be some clever Hacker (stupid Bas) was inside my Comp altering things when ever he came on internet....Dissabled my 120Gbt HD in Bios, Dissabled my Writer, stoped IE from loading up, stoped Avant Browser from loading...Only thing i could was load up Firefox Browser...Problem then was I could not do Any On-line Virus Scans with it......
Anyway following day I managed to get online with any Browser n do a Virus scan..Half way through virus scan I heard 2 clicks like mouse clicks, then Scan stoped n browser closed...
I closed down my Modem (internet) n decided to close Ports i had opened for various perpouses.....Did Virus Scans from 6 different places but none was found...Now My Comp is as Tight as a Ducks BUM....(I HOPE) n going ok so far.....So Check for Virus n Trojans..So Check for Virus n Trojans.. Take Care....
