bohone,
"Trojan Horse Downloader.Turown A
C:\System Volume Information\_restore{F6ACA4CE-D4AB-465-A4F2-6A4B0A1E5CBC}\RP210\A0039298.exe"
That Trojan file is in your System Restore files. Turn off System Restore and restart your computer then run another virus scan which should come up clean. You can then turn on System Restore again. AV\Trojan Remover Programs cannot clean infected files from System Restore since Windows protects those files. Turning off System Restore and restarting your computer purges all the Restore files including virus/Trojan files.
If you're not sure how to turn off & turn on System Restore the links below explain it for XP and ME.

train and tufenuf-
of the two options, i opted for the easier (tufenuf) after running the scan...found nothing. the strange thing about this message is that it only shows up when there has been a time of inactivity (usually overnight). anyway, don't know if it fixed it or not - but upon rebooting the java problem (i have a posting about that, too) did not seem to appear. any correlation?

The trojan could well have caused the java error message.
