Win98se won't recognize modem
I installed win98se after a full format. Now win98 does not recognize my modem. And it is also giving me trouble with my video adapter. I tried to install yahoo internet and I got a pupup saying that I needed 256 color video adapter with 800 x 600 resolution. I have never had this problem before.

novice88, What you might try first is, START>SETTINGS:CONTROL PANEL>ADD NEW HARDWARE and see if this helps? It should install any new hardware it finds? If not post back, there are a lot of good folks that can help.

Howdy:
You will have to manually re-install the drivers for both.. If video and your modem are integrated, the drivers will be on the systemboard driver cd you should have received with your computer.. If they are add-ins, then you will need to use the drivers that came with each..
If you go into Device Manager, willing to bet there will be a couple items with a yellow "!" mark beside them.. those will be the bad pieces of hardware.. Also, if you go into "Video" or "graphics" adaptor, it will show a generic brand rather than what is installed..

Hi Novice88
After installing Windows you now need to install the drivers for your hardware. You can use a program like Belarc or Aida32 to identify your video, sound, network, modem cards and then find the drivers for them.
Give some info on your computer and operating system and it will be easier to help.

Also, make sure that the modem is not sharing its IRQ with another device.
