    Control Panel

Since the problem has been "fixed", I need to post this problem again.

Closing the Control Panel crashes the computer. I have tried reinstalling win95, but the problem comes back. Any suggestions?

are any of the *.cpl files corrupt?reinstall should have fixed that.

    Have you tried regclean ?
If kernel.exe was bad should crash/hang other places too?

    sounds like registry damage ???

? time for a fall cleanup & clean reinstall of Win, maybe??

saw similar prob elsewhere that was caused by conflict between power management settings in CMOS & Windows.
was eliminated by turning off power saving in CMOS & disabling power management in device manager.
don't know if it will make a difference here?

windows has been reinstalled, etc. that did not fix it. Norton Utilities comes with a registry fixer (WinDoctor) that has fixed any problems in the registry. I don't use any of the power management features: turned off both in BIOS and Win. Next . . .

    Thx for the suggestions.

Windoctor does not fix all registry problems, it fixes some.
All the registry repair routines work in different ways. A different registry repair prog, may or may not fix prob.
If there is registry prob a reinstall over present install often does not repair/fix registry. The registry errors are carried over.

A CLEAN reinstall is usually needed.

Not really what I wanted to hear.

I can live with this problem. At least, I'd rather deal with the control panel than reinstall everything. Thx for the help!!!
