monitor w/ vol knob?
I just picked up a used monitor a few days ago, that has a volume knob and mute button on the front of it, and I can't seem to figure out how to make them acctually do anything.
There is only one jack on the whole thing (mic out), and I tried to download the drivers from the manufacturer (compaq), but the installation file dumps me back to a prompt just before it starts extracting things (downloaded it again, same thing).
Any suggestions?

Monitor probably came with some speakers, hence the volume and mute. Hey if I don't know, I SWAG it. (Scientific Wild Ass Guess)
Good luck.
Computers love this.

If it only has one jack for mic out, then I'd guess that vol and mute button is for a built-in microphone. If that's the case, you might be better off just using a mike through external speakers or hooked up directly to the sound card. Probably get better performance than through a mike on the monitor.
