Can I delete these "Gator" files?

I've already "uninstalled" my Gator program using add/remove. I think this program has caused problems on my computer. I want it completely off. I did a file search and found these files:

    Gatorplugin.log - c:\windows
    GtorSetup.log - c:\windows
    GatorSilentSetup.log - c:\windows
    Gatoruninstaller.log - c:\windows
    GatorUninstaller - c:\windows
    Gator.Igc - c:\windows\Applog

Can I *safely* delete them? Thanks!

    Yes
Many uninstalls do not remove the program entirely. Some files have to be deleted manually

This may be too late but don't empty the Recycle Bin until you're sure everything works.

It's not too late. They're still sitting in recycle. What about when you remove (delete??) something from regedit...where does that go? How "risky" is that? Thanks!

Before changing the Registry, in regedit click File > Export registry and save a copy of the registry. If you make a mistake, click File > Import registry and restore the copy you made.

Windows also makes a backup each time it starts. In regedit, click Help and read the Restore instructions.

you can get the freeware called Ad-Aware 4.55 which basically is a scanner for spyware files/.dlls/reg entries.

it works great, and it takes out all related Gator files, as well as other spyware. (there are lots! and you probably have more than just Gator)

their site is down right now as they are re-building. but you may be able to download from other sites.

excellent program and endorsed by GRC. plus they have regular updates for new spyware.

Ad-Aware removed all my Gator files properly (including those folders you mentioned), as well as other spyware asssociated with my downlaod manager (Flashget).

*make sure you get version 4.55 as this specifically addresses Gator.

    good luck.

Thanks! I'm trying to get to the Ad-Aware site right now. I had some kind of "spyware" program. It was call Opt-Out. When I went to try to run it, their website said they no longer were updating theirs and to go to "Ad-Aware"'s site. Thanks for all the advice. This is a great website!
