I came here to ask how to get my old DOS 6.22 computer to recognize a CD-ROM (IDE) which had as its brand-name, "Made in Taiwan."

When I saw this message, I realized I had overlooked the Win98 install disk. I copied all the .SYS files to a SYSFILES directory on my C: drive and added the appropriate section of the Win98 CONFIG.SYS file, did an F8 step by step confirmation boot.

As you would probably have guessed, the OakCD driver lit it up and I was off to the races.

Thanks to you both (one for asking the questino for me and the other for answering it).

Great to have such a nice site for troubleshooting.

Best regards,

Chuck
