    File extensions + Folder options

    1) How do I make ALL file extensions visible in Windows Explorer?

    2) How do I change folder options universally (like in Win 9x)?

Sorry about how basic these questions are, but I'm new to Win 2k and the default settings really get under my skin... ;-)

The answer to both of your questions is in the same spot.

    Open Windows Explorer

Get your folder set the way you like it.

    Select the Tools Menu

    Select the Folder Options... selection

    In the View tab:

The fourth checkbox down is "Hide file extensions for known file types"

There is a button at the top called Like Current Folder

    Hi Lee,

Thanks for your answer. It sounds like doing this in Win 2000 is just like doing it in the rest of the Windows line. I'm not sure why I didn't see that in the few minutes I used Win 2000, but I'll try it.

    Cheers!
