CDROM Not Showing up as device
I have Win98 on an HP Vectra that was working fine. My baby got his hands on the keyboard and rebooted and now problems. The CDROM kind of works, the drive letter shows up but no autorun will work from any CD now(including CD for my new HP printer). I even tried a new CDROM. I look in devices and no CDROM shows up. There is the entry in autoexec and config.sys. Autoplay will not find the device. Any ideas HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Yea, Um.... dont let the baby dance on the key board. And have you tried to reinstall the drivers for the cd rom? What program or file you in when the baby was hacking the comp? (I have a feeling my son will soon be doing the same to me.) Anyways, try going to start>setting>control panel>add new harware> then try to manualy install the cd rom.
Post back what happens

Tim, I recently had the exact same problem on an HP pavillion. I tried everything and I mean everything but to no avail. I had to end up backing up everything and doing a full format and recovery.
