    AHIC activate

Hi: Loaded win 8, and only after doing so, discovered that it would work better if AHIC were enabled before the load. Any way, without harm, to post-activate AHIC? The Microsoft site indicates a reload is best, cautioning that to do otherwise could lead to problems, failure. Conclusion was that activating the AHIC only adds about 1 percent to the speed. Another site suggests that the Registry can be altered, and goes on to give a workaround. Thoughts? The sytem is plenty fast, and once loaded, browsing is eye-flicker fast. Thanks, Jim S

You mean AHCI. What Motherboard/Hard Drive combination do you have?

    This might work for Win8:

Thanks. Seems to have worked, though had to try a few times.

It's an Abit 32 Max (works just fine) M/B with 4 Gb, the Plextor 128 Gb SSD, and a 7200 rpm, Seagate 150 Gb hard drive. Jim S

Ah. For an SSD, you'd want to use AHCI. Glad to hear you got it working.
