Those look like people who will be making money from selling the software.
When tech experts like Ed Bott are not fans of McAfee, you can be pretty sure you should probably not be using it.

I lost the faith in McAfee several years ago. I have seen nothing in recent history that would change my mind.

MSessentials, Avast, Avira for freebies. AVG not so much any more.
NOD32 is a good pay-for a/v and some like the recent Symantec offering.
Malwarebytes for spyware is another must have.. free or paid for.

Sorry to nit pick a bit but IMHO, I would differentiate between Norton's home products and Symantec's commercial stuff. Same company, very different software. Norton home stuff gets my personal approval. Symantec does not...

Better? Not easy to answer because there are so many ways to make that determination.
My personal opinion is that Norton is better. Between the 2, it's what I would run. IMO, Norton has a clearer GUI, the program itself is much more flexible for setup options, updates more often, has a better history of catching malware and on and on. The later versions of Norton ran very light on the systems I've tried it on.
A key reason I am not using it is because I need an AV that has small updates. I live on dialup and Norton (along with many other companies) has larger updates than I can deal with.

I am also using Norton Internet Security (home version) for the reasons mentioned by HAN. Starting with the 2009 edition, it was totally redesigned to run faster and with minimal impact on system resources.

MSE = OK, free
Norton = better (as reviewed by some users in above posts), costs $
It is up to you to determine which you like better. What are you using now?
