CDRPW on boot
On boot, I'm getting 6, yes I said 6, BSOD's consecutively that claim CDRPW is trying to use a resource that isn't loaded yet. Press a key to continue. I do this 6 times, and then everything works.
Does anyone have an idea?

If possible can you post the full error message you get and is it the same exact error message each time you hit enter?

Paisan,
Here is the exact error message:
A 32 bit device driver CDRPW(01) + 0000A023 has attempted to use a system service that has not been loaded.
Then it says You may be able to continue, blah blah.
It is exactly the same message every time. It comes up right after the desktop bmp loads, gives the message 3 times, gives the hourglass for about a second, then gives the message 3 more times. Then it goes on to boot as it should, and as far as I can tell, everything works right including my cd burner.
I did uninstall adaptec burn software.
Mosaic,
CDRPW isn't in msconfig, autoexec, win.ini, or sys.ini. I checked this by running sysedit and searching each file for cdrpw with the search function.
Will be looking for your responses. Thanks in advance,
Will

Did you uninstall the burner software after you started getting the BSOD's or where you getting them before you uninstalled the burner software?
Also I would try if you are dont mind opening the case to pull the power and ide cable off your cd burner and then boot up the pc and see if it still BSOD's.

What I would do if you are going to open the case.
After you unhook the drive and check it to see if you still get the errors. If you do then, go into Device manager and delete the drive entirely. Then see if you still get the BSOD's. If not Then reboot, let windows see there is no drive there at all. Then shut down the PC and hook the Ribbon and Power cables back up. Then boot the PC. See if it will install the Cd drive with no problems. Or see if the errors come back up.... Just an Idea....

That file is one related to DirectCD. From the looks of it Easy CD was not fully/properly uninstalled. Removing DirectCD from startup using MSCONFIG might stop the messages, but there are obviously files (from Easy CD) still around. I would suggest reinstalling Easy CD, then trying the uninstall again. Perhaps do the uninstall in Safe Mode.

One of the things I've seen happen with DirectCd (and to a lesser degree EasyCD) is that people don't CAD and end the running background DirectCD task - so that there are files in use problems when uninstalling.

OK, guys and gals:
I have finally tamed this dragon, and have found my solution. It seems that Adaptec easycd 5 was somehow causing the problem, although I don't know why. I installed version 5 after uninstalling an earlier version in the hope that the newer version would fix the problem. That didn't work.
Today, when I uninstalled version 5, the 6 BSOD's referring to CDRPWD stopped showing up on boot.
Hope this helps others who encounter the same problem,
Will

There were problems with the DirectCD that came with Easy CD verion 5 initially. An update to version 5 was released by Roxio, but I don't know if it resolved all of them or not.
