WIN 3.11 FOR WORKGROUPS
I have floppy disks for both Win 3.1 and Win 3.11. I need one of
these that has drivers for a cd rom drive. I know Win 3.1 does not.
Does Win 3.11 for workgroups have drivers for a cd rom drive. If not
where can I get them? I am trying to load a program into Virtual PC
and did install Win 3.1. I want to install Win 95 on top of win 3.1 but
the cd rom drive does not work. I have also installed on virtual pc
DOS 6.2 but it also does not operate the CD Rom Drive.
My goal is to install Win 95 onto virtual pc and I had to install DOS 6.2
first but no cd rom access. How can I get this done.

Either version of Win 3.1 will "use" a cd drive just fine..
What you want to ask is if anyone has a bootable copy of Win3.1 ...
But why on earth would you want to go to all the trouble of finding a non existant bootable copy of Win 3.1 to upgrade a non bootable Win 95 OS?
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

The links below should help you to get your CD-ROM drive working on Win 3.x:

Win 3.x is dependent on DOS, and requires the Microsoft CD extensions (MSCDEX.EXE) to be installed, and a CD-ROM driver that will work with the CD-ROM drive.
Like Steve, I'm wondering why you're wanting to install Win95 over the top of 3.1 - if the 95 is an upgrade version, I'd think you should be able to boot a floppy disk with CD-ROM support, run the 95 setup and show it the Win 3.x media when requested.

I've got a generic CDRom driver that I've been using for DOS for decades. Its never failed. Its called oakcdrom, or somesuch. Give me a day or two to look through my archives and find it. I know I have it. I'll probably find it tomorrow.
