    Football Manager 2010 speed issues....!!!

I am running my football manager 2010 through Steam. The game will start off by running fine but then all of a sudden, usually when i am scrolling through players and options, the game just starts running really slowly and seems to have approx 2-3 second delays before anything happens etc...this happens regularly and is such a nightmare because I need to restart the lap top to go into it and then it works fine again....it is NOT just the game that starts going slowly it slows the entire lap top down even after the game is shut down...

Sometimes the internet has disconnected so I thought it may be that but Steam can run offline also and then also an error comes up in my toolbar saying display driver stopped working and has now recovered so I wonder if that may be something to do with it!?

Alternatively if I check on problem reports there are 3 separate errors that show and the times link to when the game stops working:

    1: Roxiliveshare9 - Service LiveShare P2P Server 9 hung on starting.

2: Roxio Upnp Server 9 - Service Roxio Upnp Server 9 hung on starting.

3: LiveKernelEvent - A problem with your video hardware caused Windows to stop working correctly.

Has anyone experienced similar problems or have any ideas on how to fix this issue? I also run Rome: Total War games on this lap top and have never experienced issues on this or any other game...please help!!!

    My system is:

    Intel Pentium Dual-Core T2080 1.73 GHz
    2048MB DDR2 533 RAM
    On board graphics

Check the game requirements, the onboard video maybe not up to speed for it.

Thank you very much for the speedy reply

I got my auntie on the case about my lap top specs compared to the game requirements as I am not really good with that sort of thing and this is what she came back with...

    http://www.game-debate.com/news/?new...&+Demo+Details
    PC

    OS - Windows XP/Vista/Windows7
    Processor - XP - 1.4ghz or faster Vista/W7 - 2.0hgz or faster
    Memory - XP-512MB Ram, Vista/W7 - 1GB Ram
Video Card - 128MB minimum. Nvidia FX 5900 Ultra or greater; ATI Radeon 9800 or greater; Intel 82915G/82910GL or greater.
Earlier cards may only display 2D Match Viewer Mode and are not supported.
Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported.

Basically the web site for the game won't guarantee that the game will work with a laptop with onboard graphics. but your onboard graphics does meet with the minimum requirements as does the rest of the laptop.

She also said to mention that the game does start by running absolutely fine and at times it has gone like an hour without happening and then times it happens in the first 5 minutes...also the screen flashes as well like it turns off and then turns back on again but when this happens the game still works fine afterwards but then not long after that is usually when it starts running slowly again...it is one of those ones that is hard to explain without actually seeing it happening...

Have you any ideas at all?

    Thanks again...

Seems your laptop may not be able to run it.

Go into device manager and under Display adapter and see what you have.
Then correlate what you have to the card requirements in this link.

Your cp is enough, only if you are running XP SP3 though.

Right I have done that and my graphic card thing is a 'mobile intel 945 express chipset family'. Now unless I am being really stupid (which is possible when it comes to this stuff!) that does not appear on the list in the link you gave me so does that mean the game will never run correctly?

If that is the case do you know any way of potentially delaying the effect it is having so I can at least get like an hour out of the game at a time or is there any cheap way of upgrading the part of the lap top that is the problem?

Thanks for your time and help with this btw!

That is a GMA X3000, X3100, X3500 series chip. From what I can figure out.

My Auntie checked something on a Football Manager Forum website which has a checker to see how well it should all run and whether it would run and my graphic thing we were talking about is actually listed on there...the processor is slightly different but it should work fine according to this website...I tried to copy the screenshot on to here but it would not let me...

Any ideas at all? The easy fix would be to buy a new and better lap top!!

Or buying a desktop just for gaming is also a viable route.

The laptop video may need updated drivers, but do not thing you will find them.
I think you are stuck with a purchase in the near future.

Sorry I was unable to help out with cheaper answer.

But do your research whether a new laptop or desktop.
