    when I look in the task manager I still see some AVG stuff running in there
    You shouldn't see any AVG stuff.
    Take a closer look, because some Avira files may look like AVG files.
    For instance:
    C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\avgnt.exe
    C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\avguard.exe
