    Uninstall Combofix:
Go Start > Run [Vista users, go Start>"Start search"]
    Type in:
    Combofix /Uninstall
Note the space between the "Combofix" and the "/Uninstall"
Click OK (Vista users - press Enter).
    Restart computer.

    ===============================================================

    Download OTL to your Desktop.

    * Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
    * Under the Custom Scan box paste this in:

    /md5start
    eventlog.dll
    scecli.dll
    netlogon.dll

    %systemroot%\Tasks\*.job /lockedfiles
    %systemroot%\system32\drivers\*.sys /lockedfiles
    %systemroot%\System32\config\*.sav
    CREATERESTOREPOINT

    * Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows: OTL.txt and Extras.txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
    • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post them back here.

    Apparently this:
1, atapi. sys in C:\windows\system32\drivers\ ( malware component)

    2, \REGISTRY\machine\system\controlset001\services\atapi ( infected entry image)

    3,\REGISTRY\machine\system\currentcontrolset\services\atapi ( infected entry image )

    4, atapi sys in C:\windows\winsx\x86\_mshdc.inf_31bf3856a ( malware component )

    5, atapi sys in C:\windows\system32\driverstore\filerepository ( malware component )
    is false positive.
    According to OTL:

Also prevx has just given me another threat warning

    atapi sys in C:\windows\ erdnt\cache\

I will try and do a KASPERSKY scan, but last time it wouldnt download the data files, even after 3 hours.

    Cheers

You can reinstall AVG, when we're totally done.
Disregard PrevX warnings. We already dealt with some false positives.

I got little bit lost. Sorry for that
    Forget Kaspersky.

Follow steps from my reply #12.

    You missed this entry:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [combofix] "C:\ComboFix\CF30934.cfxxe" /c "C:\ComboFix\C.bat"
Please, redo and post fresh HJT log.

Yeah, I'd uninstall PrevX. Malwarebytes is much better tool.
If you want to uninstall AVG, use AVG Remover: http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-tools

    Your other free choices:

    - Avira free antivirus: http://www.free-av.com/en/download/1...antivirus.html
    - Avast! free antivirus: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

    - free Comodo Internet Security (firewall + AV): http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/
NOTE. During installation, Comodo will also allow you to install AV only, or firewall only, if you prefer to combine one Comodo product with some other product.

If you decide to install Avast, or Avira, make sure, Windows firewall is turned on, or use Comodo firewall..
If you decide to install Comodo Internet Security, or just Comodo firewall, make sure, Windows firewall is turned off.

IMPORTANT! Make sure, you use only ONE antivirus, and ONE firewall.

    Hi Broni
Most of the time the computer seems ok, but then all of a sudden it freezes and starts bleeping and i have to hard close it down.(mostly whilst online)
Another issue i have is this, when ever i login to my hotmail account a window pops up saying you are in a secure internet and nobody can view your messages (or words to that effect) but as soon as i hit enter,to enter my password and view my messages,it says you are about to leave a secure internet, would you like to continue yes or no
    Is this normal
    Regards
    Paul
P.s i am in India at the present time and the internet connection i use is via a usb dongle, with very unreliable speed and performance

    I thank you

Well, you computer is free of any malware, so I suggest you start a new topic in Windows forum about your current issue.
In this forum, we make sure, your computer is free of malware.
