Cant get past boot window after dual boot of ubuntu

I installed ubuntu 9.10 inside windows using this method. http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/wubi Ubuntu installed and appears to work fine. The problem is I can not boot back into windows. When I select the "windows" option from the boot menu the pc keeps looping back to the screen that you see when window has been shut down improperly. Selecting the normal mode, safe mode produces the same results. If I select the ubuntu option from the boot menu it loads fine. From the boot menu I tried the F8 option and selected the Windows option and it gave me a message like "can find drive path" or something similar. Please help.

Sounds like the Wubi boot loader has damaged your MBR(master boot record)You might have to do a repair install of XP using your XP DVD/CD. There might be other ways to correct this so wait and see what others have to say first. I've mess around with Linux for several years and learned the hard way to install Linux to a separate hard drive. Currently I use a hard drive selector switch to make it easy to switch between drives. The switch I use( Trois Hard drive selector switch) is no longer made. When I go to SATA drives I'll have to use a caddy system to switch drives.

Nice find Train, the only problem with this switch is price. I'll probably go with this caddy system for my next build.

    It's about $20.00 bucks.

Now you know why I went the caddy route too.

Kingwin, I think, is the brand I use.

I've used Kingwin also, for years, and never had a bit of trouble with them.

I done a search on Kingwin. Looks like a great way to add a drive for Linux. You don't have to open the computer or anything. Just hook it up using firewire and you're good to go.

Now, back to the problem at hand. I'm hoping someone will have a solution for techforay without resorting to a repair install. Maybe some answers your in the Ubuntu form:

I think I may have found what is causing the problem but have no idea how to fix it. I started doing what JmtJet suggested by putting in my xp disk and doing a repair instal. When I got to the partition selecting part of the process I could see that my two hard drives are now the C: and D: drives. They used to be G: and H: Can someone tell me how this could be causing the problem and what to do about it? Thank you
