Scanning software
I have a Canon MP610 Printer/Copier/Scanner which also included some scanning SW. This SW is very basic and I am looking for a good SW that does the following:
When I put an album on the scanner, I would like to center/focus on one picture of my choice and scan it, so I can add it to my collection of pictures respectively send the picture or use it in a document.
The SW coming with the MP610 does scan only whole pages.
Any help here? It can be freeware, shareware or full size program.

Check to see if it has a professional mode.
Probably in a drop down.

Unfortunately, the scan SW does not have a professional mode. It is all very basic.

Do you have a graphics program installed.
I have scanned using Twain in a couple.

MSPaint has a Select tool which allows you to select a portion of page (image).
Open your page (image) in MSPaint. (Click Start>Run, type in mspaint and press [Enter]. Then click File>Open ...).
Now use the Select tool to select whatever you want to copy from your page (image) and press [Ctrl-C] to copy it.
Click File|New and then click "No" to "Do you want to save your changes?".
Press [Ctrl-V] to paste what you copied onto the screen then do a File|Save.

Yes this is one solution. Did not think of MS Paint. I also have a program called Polyview, a shareware and see whether it has something similar.
