Thanks Train. I missed it. Most likely, just orphaned registry entry, because it's not listed in Add\Remove.

I've completed your last set of tasks. In general our PC is running much faster and cleaner. We are extremely grateful.
The computer is running much faster, with the exception that boot up at one point in the process was faster than it is now.
Application start up with several seconds (MS word 2007, Excel 2007 and Outlook). Before we could have waited over a minute or more.
Start up: After I did the Java update you requested the boot actually slowed down. I open then Java from control panel. I notice Java Quickstart was not checked - nor would it allow me to check. Is there something I should do? I've tried repeating the Java Update as an admin - but get same result (Update occurs - but quick start is not checked)

I'm glad, your computer is doing better 
I'm not sure about your startup issue....
You can try to disable few services, which are definitely not needed to be running all the time:
Google Update Service
Google Software Updater
HP Health Check Service
hpqwmiex
