how can you fix the horizontal & vertical on you monitor display?

I have really messed up my monitor's horizontal & vertical and all the rest of it. It is so cockeyed and not very square. It does not fit my 17" monitor very evenly...if this makes any sense.

I have been working on it all evening, and I don't know how to fix it. Does anyone know how I can get all the proportions straightened out? Is there a website or somewhere where it tells what the proportions should be for a 17" monitor...like what the numbers should be? Thanks

Hi Feather kids does you monitor have the menu keys for altering the position of the screen ie. left/right,up/down,skew,pincoushion etc if so what make, model and resolution are you using?
You can use the Nokia monitor test program to give you a test card stlye image to adjust to and a few screens which run through setting up colours and brightness if it helps.
Edit: further to my last Samsung provide a tool called Magic Tune to configure some of their monitors maybe you manufacturer has a similar tool.

Yes, I have all the buttons for altering the position and that is what I have been trying to work with on my own, but the edges are all wavy. I cannot get it to look right.

This is on my other computer. The monitor is a 17" Gateway VX700. There is another number GWY044E if that helps any. I will check out those sites although I already have a site to calibrate the color, brightness and contrast. I need help with the positioning and straightening. Thanks

I don't know if a driver .inf file will help with your problem, but the link to it is below:

Usually for your problem you need to adjust the black out with the monitors controls on the monitor itself.

Red face Sorry to revive such an old thread but..

This has been bugging me, several times now after the ADJUST settings on my monitor have been changed.

I own, unfortunately, a Gateway VX700 -- and I have since come to this very same website to hope for an amazing answer, for such an old monitor.

But google doesn't seem to like us VX700 users much, so I will try and post this info here in hopes other people will find it useful, as I would...

The DATA for most, everything on your VX700 needs to be adjusted to (128)

BUT, I have noticed, that the V-size, H-Size, H-Position, & V-Position need to be tweaked a little bit, I have found these DATA settings to work for those

    V-size= DATA 100
    H-Size= DATA 140
    H-Position= DATA 46
    V-Position= DATA 142

    Hope this Helps! --CM
