    GMail and Internet Explorer 8

I recently installed IE8 and have had a problem since accessing GMail. I have a couple of GMail accounts, one personal, one for business which on IE7 I could have both open at the same time. However on IE8 I can only have one GMail account open.
If I want to open the second account, I am logged out of the original account. I thought it may be a Google problem so I removed IE8 and I was able to access both GMail accounts without problems but what I have noticed that that the speed of accessing different webpages and that IE7 takes longer to access than IE8.

I would like to go back to IE8 so does anyone know how I can get over this GMail problem please.
    Thanks
    - Tilly

In IE 7, were the 2 accounts running in 2 separate windows or 2 tabs?

    Thanks for your reply.
Two separate windows, I don't like tabs as they can close down sites which you may need.

What are you talking about? Tabs don't close unless you tell them to.

Why do you need both account open all the time? You could just use something like GmailNotifier. If you need chat support, there are other clients like Digsby.

Midknyte - sorry I did not make myself clear - I do not like tabs and set my computers so that they do not happen. I do realise that they ask you first before closing down open sites but occasionally with memory lapses you do not always realise that an open page that you want is included in those particular tabs.

As I said in my original post I have one Gmail account for my personal stuff and one for business. With IE7 I could have both open at the same time. With IE8 you can't as if you open a second account it logs the first one off. That is my problem, there is nothing wrong with having two accounts open at the same time, I am not doing anything illegal. When using Outlook Express you could have many email accounts open at the same time, but now that Microsoft do not include Outlook and use Windows Mail that is not possible, hence my problem.

I thought is was a simple request to ask for a solution from Virtualdr, their replies have always been most helpful.

    Thank you

I was merely stating that there may be an alternate solution to your problem. By using a notifier, you wouldn't need to have both accounts open all the time.

IE8 shares cookies with each instance. Did you try using a new session instead of just opening another IE window? You can also create shortcuts to add the -nomerge switch to IE.

    Hi Midknyte
Thanks for this info, but what exactly do you mean by a new session. The blog refers to New Session on the File menu. Can you direct me to this please as I cannot see the File menu on the Toolbar.

    Thanks

    Hi again
Midknyte, I have found the File menu, I didn't have the toolbar showing, and started a new session, and it worked. Thanks a million
