Try Windows repair: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
In worst case scenario, it'll tell you, you have incorrect CD. Nothing else will happen.
IF, that CD has same Windows version, but the difference is just in service pack, you may uninstall SP3 from the computer, and try CD again (if it doesn't want to to run on your first try).

Great news!! I'm happy for you.
Windows Live OneCare is pretty much worthless.
My recommendations:
- Avast! free antivirus: http://filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/
- Avira free antivirus: http://www.free-av.com/en/download/index.html
- free PC Tools Firewall Plus: http://www.pctools.com/firewall/
- free Comodo Internet Security (firewall + AV): http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/
If you decide to install Avast, or Avira, make sure, Windows firewall is turned on, or use PC Tools Firewall Plus.
If you decide to install Comodo, make sure, Windows firewall is turned off.
IMPORTANT! Make sure, you use only ONE antivirus, and ONE firewall.
I use all of those programs on different computers, and they all work great.
