Global Warming.....A Hoax?
This program aired in the UK a few days ago. It makes an excellent case that global warming is not a man-made catastrophe as Al Gore and others would have us believe.
The Great Global Warming Swindle
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...+Swindle&hl=en
It's a little over an hour long.....so some time and a broadband connection are pretty much required.
As a longtime doubter of human-based global warming....I found this documentary a refreshing viewpoint over the hysterics we are usually bombarded with.

My son is a Solar physicist, he has always said that global warming is rubbish.

I have little doubt that global warming is real enough. My problem is whether it is really man-made or part of a natural cycle. Geological records show that the Earth has been far hotter than this many times in the past. And I dislike the way any scientist who dares to question man-made global warming is drowned out, and automatically accused of being in the pay of the oil companies. The fact that rational debate is being stifled makes me very suspicious.
In any case, we'll all be glad of the extra carbon dioxide in the atmosphere when the supervolcano under Yellowstone National Park erupts. And that is definitely a case of when and not if.
Nick.

OK, try this-> Drive you car into a garage and close the garage door –stay seated in the car and leave car running for a couple of hours...If you’re able come back here and post that you survived I’ll will no longer believe that millions of cars over the past and future decades are or will do any harm to our atmosphere.
Then again, if global warming “is” true, why should we care? We won’t be around to play with our great great grand kids anyway.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

See now.....this is interesting......
Nobody is actually watching the video. I know this because it is 75 minutes long and the post timestamps are well in advance of that....
Unless you have seen it already....of course....
Thus an indication of how emotional and charged this issue has become. People wanting to post, pro or con....before even seeing the evidence presented. This is exactly what the video addresses, in part, that the global warming issue has passed beyond science and into the political or social realm. People have made up their minds already and don't even want to hear any more. That's not how science works IMO.....
All posts are more than welcome of course, but I urge people to actually watch it. Surely an issue as important as this (pro or con) is worth 75 minutes of your time.

Your point's interesting, Steve, but it's pollution-related, not warming-related. Even so, the Earth's atmosphere is greater than 2 quintillion cubic feet - 2,113,400,000,000,000,000,000 ft³ (figured using 80 miles as the upper limit of the atmosphere); it's constantly being replenished with oxygen, rain washes particulates out of it and solar radiation breaks down many of the heaver molecules. A lot of space for dilution and dissipation.
As far as global warming, I don't suppose increased solar activity could have anything to do with it? I certainly don't trust the data provided by people who seem to make the data fit their preconceived notions. Their computer modeling is based on a steady-state assumption of Nature, which is hardly reality.

I saw most of this programme when it was shown in the week.
The Earth is definitely getting warmer at the moment, but that's just part of the cycle. The video mentions times not so long ago when the ice caps are smaller than now and temperatures were higher. The Sun has an eleven year cycle and lots of these events are clearly related to some of these cycles. When you think about it what a brilliant way to get more taxes, just mention we got to be green or we need to save the planet and the money rolls in.
My son has mentioned many of the points in the video to me long before this programme was shown, he studied Solar flares for his Phd.

Philgo.....
How is it being recieved in the UK? I heard the channel is running it again tomorrow. I have no doubt that if it was run here, whichever network ran it would be picketed and protested the next morning...and everyone involved would be investigated for dirt. I can almost see Wolf Blitzer already.....
"It has been discovered that one of the scientists involved in the show has two unpaid parking tickets. Can he be trusted in the light of this revelation? More coverage of this breaking story throughout the day as CNN investigates the investigators!"

He probably lives in West Palm Beach, and voted for Pat Buchanan by accident too.
Anyone smart enough to be a scientist is smart enough to know what he was doing and where he was doing it. Conversely, I wouldn't believe any research he did if he is gullible enough to truly be duped like this.

I have climbed in that area. Sure lot more open spots than there were a few years ago. Just what I have seen. Granted the upper part looks like waves breaking.

He may have been naive enough to have been duped but I'm sure he knows more than all of us put together. He was certainly knowledgeable enough and highly regarded internationaly to have been chosen as an unimpeachable and credible source by those that made the movie.

Surprisingly in the UK it was given a very low profile, didn't even know it was on, channel hopping at the time.
